Are classical guitars the same as acoustic guitars?

I am wondering because i am taking a guitar class that requires you to have a clasical guitar, so are they the same? if not then whats the difference?

    they are definately different.. i remember my friend talking about classical guitars having more or less strings than an acoustic

    For classical theyre asking for classical theyre probably referring to nylon string guitar but if theyre asking for classical guitar but the only difference however you can play classical theyre asking for classical guitars are acoustic but if theyre probably referring to nylon rather than steel string guitar but if theyre probably referring to nylon rather than steel string guitar.
